Jeff has fifty years in aviation with over forty of those years in industry as an Air Safety Investigator for a major propulsion system manufacturer and as an investigator for Engineering Systems Inc.
Jeff started his aviation career with the U.S. Navy as a plane captain and egress and environmental mechanic on F4J aircraft. After his service time, he attended Purdue University where he received a BS in Aviation Technology and obtained his private pilot license and A&P.
In 1984, Jeff took a position in Quality with Allison Gas Turbine and began working in-house investigations with Assembly and Test then began working accident and incident investigations with civil and military investigation authorities the following year. In 1993, he created an Air Safety Investigation group for North American products then assisted the U.K. in developing a second group of investigators for European products in 2000.
Jeff has provided technical support on gas turbine engines to civil and military agencies around the world for fixed wing and rotorcraft to large transport to fighter jets. During his career, he has participated in over 450 accident and incident investigations. His major strengths are in safety investigation, management, team building, organizational development and operation, customer relations and training currently as an Associate Instructor for TSI Gas Turbine Accident Investigation, Rotorcraft Accident Investigation, Aircraft Accident Investigation, Advanced GA and USA National Guard. He is a former panel member for the USAF Board Presidents course and has conducted safety and gas turbine investigation training for multiple countries to include, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, China, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Brazil, Sweden, Norway, Germany and Great Britain.
He also served on several GAMA safety initiatives and as a past member and company representative of ISASI and AIA committees. Jeff also holds Air Safety Certificates from USC and the Transportation Safety Institute.
